Giovanna is a first call jazz singer in the greater Boston area known for emotion packed renditions and original interpretations of jazz standards. Gerry is an award winning 7-String jazz guitarist who has toured the USA and Canada, been the recipient of national awards and appeared on over fifty recordings.
Their collaboration, reminiscent of the pioneering work in this genre by jazz vocal icon Ella Fitzgerald and jazz guitar legend Joe Pass, reflects their combined years of experience learning their craft as well as a mutual respect for each other’s artistry.

Silver Girl is so excited to be able to bring the incredibly talented Gil Silva to their restaurant. Gil’s classical guitar work will steal your heart. He plays a mix of contemporary songs, traditional Brazilian music, classical, and jazz that is the perfect accompaniment to your evening at Silver Girl. As always, there is no cover but reservation are recommended for the dining room and lounge.

We’ll begin by diving into an inspiring book discussion and follow it up with a nourishing yoga practice designed to embody and integrate the ideas and themes generated by our conversation. No need to be an expert reader or yoga practitioner ~ just come as you are, ready to connect, move, and be inspired. Reading the book is encouraged but never required!!

Meditative Hand Sewing ~ Stitch Your Way to Calm

This session invites participants to slowly stitch small squares of fabric together in a rhythmic, mindful way. Once you learn this simple method of creating a nine-patch square—free from decision fatigue—you can simply sew. These squares can later be made into a quilt, sewn on to existing clothes or other projects, mounted as artwork, or simply exist as they are. The act of hand sewing is scientifically shown to lower stress hormones, calm the nervous system, and promote focus and relaxation—especially for those who find it difficult to sit still in traditional meditation. Hand sewing engages both creativity and concentration, helping participants enter a natural state of flow. No prior sewing experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided.
