If you've always wanted to make popovers (aka Yorkshire pudding), this is the class for you! Dawn, Executive Chef and daily popover maker at Silver Girl, will demonstrate her tried and true recipe to produce huge, light, yet eggy popovers just in time for Thanksgiving!

Jen has worked closely with the Alzheimer’s Association for several years and is certified in Yoga for Alzheimer’s and Dementia through the Soma Institute. Through her shared company, Rooted Resilience, she and her partner, Rachel Emery, support families caring for loved ones at home—helping individuals thrive with dignity and connection. This cause is deeply personal for Jen, whose father was diagnosed with dementia and grandmother with Alzheimer’s. Her work is fueled by love and purpose, sharing how yoga can nurture memory, lift mood, and enhance quality of life for those living with cognitive change.

This Free workshop for 2nd - 6th graders is led by high schoolers who previously hosted a summer camp in Flera field. This time, they are bringing their experience and fun activities to Danny's Place! This Workshop will end with a Gallery Walk, where participants will get see all the creations!

Befriend your own sewing machine for this in-person total beginners class. 

In this 2-hour class, the instructor will go over the basics of how to get started with basic sewing and make a simple (but fab!) project together. 

You will walk away from class with fresh skills, inspiration, and confidence, and a new relationship with your sewing machine.

Be sure to bring all the components that come with your machine, including pedal, electrical cord, manual (if you have it), and various foot plates, whatever you have.  

All materials are provided (except for your sewing machine!). Class is limited to six people (age 13 and older).

The silver unicorn bookstore + True West Brewing co event

Join The Silver Unicorn Bookstore and True West Brewing Co. for the launch of Silver Unicorn’s inaugural Mock Awards program -- their new Mock Caldecott and Mock Newbery programs.

This fall, they're launching four new programs, with an eye toward both getting kids reading more and helping schools get good books for their classrooms and libraries in an efficient manner. The four programs are:

- Mock Caldecott: The books we think are contenders for the Caldecott Medal 

- Mock Newbery: The books we think are contenders for the Newbery Medal

- The Fun-decott: Picture books that probably won't receive Caldecott consideration, but are fun and engaging that your students will love.

- The Fun-bery: Chapter books that probably won't receive Newbery consideration, but are fun and engaging that your students will love.

Each program will feature 20 books, and schools, educators, and libraries can get a discount on them when they order either the whole set or most of the whole set (15 of 20). The Mock Caldecott program will also come with a free lesson plan for educators!!!

The unveiling of each list will be on this night, Mock Awards Night, and it will be a celebration in the finest sense. We will be joined by a powerhouse lineup - Aaron Becker, Winsome Bingham, Mary Lee Donovan, and Brian Lies!!!

True West Brewery will be on hand to sell food and drink, and we will have special presentations from authors and illustrators, and a whole lot more! Tickets are $20, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity. Buy tickets

Silver Girl is thrilled to welcome back Kevin Quigley for another fun night of his irreverent, often hilarious, and always deeply informative and interesting take on pop culture history. This time Kevin is tackling the 1964 New York World's Fair, especially memorable because of Walt Disney's introduction of several groundbreaking attractions such as Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, It's a Small World, and Carousel of Progress. They'll also be serving special tiki and mid-century classic cocktails, and our regular menu of small plates will be available.
