Just in time for spooky season, presenter Kevin Quigley explores the life, writing, and cultural influence of horror writer Stephen King. If you've attended a KevTalk in the past you know what a fun and fascinating speaker Kevin is. Silver Girl will also be serving special King-inspired cocktails, and our regular menu will be available. Whether you're a King book nerd, a fan of the movie adaptations of his books, or just enjoy an entertaining night out, you're going to have a great time. Get tickets today!

If you have a teen working on college applications this fall, here's something worth knowing about: Open Door Education is bringing a free College Essay and Common App workshop to Danny's Place on Saturday, September 26th, from 10am to noon. It's led by Rebecca "Bee" Loprete, PhD, an experienced essay and application coach who will work with students on the actual writing, practical strategies, real time to write, and individualized feedback on their drafts. The goal is for every student who shows up to leave with something they're proud of in their own voice, not a polished version of what someone else thinks they should sound like.

Hormone replacement therapy is one of the most talked about—and most misunderstood—topics in midlife health.

In this 90-minute class, Menopause Specialist and board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Maryanne Vogel separates the outdated fear from the current evidence, breaking down what estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone actually do, why the black-box warning was removed for estrogen, and how to know if HRT might be right for you. You’ll leave knowing what to ask for, what a good conversation with your provider sounds like, and how to spot a clinician who is under-informed. Twenty minutes are reserved for live Q&A, so come with your questions.
