"History, Art, and Beauty: The Posters of World War I" with Dr. Eliot Lilien

  • The Gallery at Villageworks 525 Massachusetts Avenue Acton, MA, 01720 United States (map)

2017 marks one hundred years since America entered Word War I, 'the war to end all wars.' This Veterans Day weekend, join Dr. Eliot Lilien for a facilitated discussion and viewing of his personal collection of WWI propaganda posters. Learn about their historical context and join him in a discussion about their artistic merit and value. Adding to the ambience, Thomas Ruggles will perform solo vocals of WWI-era songs.

Dr. Elliott Lilien taught at Concord Carlisle High School from 1965 to 2000. He holds degrees from the University of Chicago, Columbia Law School, and Harvard University. He is an engaging, dynamic, and highly-sought-after speaker who encourages questions and discussion. Anyone interested in History, Art History, Politics, and thoughtful dialogue will not want to miss this event!

Dr. Lilien's poster collection will be displayed in The Gallery at Villageworks throughout the month of November. All posters are available for purchase.
