Join Susan Edwards Richmond, as she reads from her new poetry collection, Before We Were Birds, published by Adastra Press. The poems illuminate more than a decade of the poet’s fascination with the interactions of humans with wild nature. Richmond explores this kinship through close observation and immersion in the natural world, and by suggesting connections with animal spirit guides.
The event will open with selected readings by Polly Brown, Terry House, Dawn Paul, Mary Pinard, Joanne DeSimone Reynolds, and Hilary Sallick from a new poetry anthology Birdsong edited by Eric Rounds and Bart White.
"With stunning imagery and gentle, meditative music, Richmond conjures a sense of sacred wildness in all things. In a world as endangered by meanness and indifference as ours, no lesson seems more important." –Fred Marchant, Said Not Said (Graywolf Press)
