Flourish: Alphabets in Nature and Imagination

The alphabet has always been a quiet thread running through my creative life, a familiar structure full of possibility and reinvention. I love reimagining letters as playful gateways - into nature, into imagination, and into moments of discovery. Each piece I create is a love letter to curiosity and learning, an invitation to wonder at the creatures and stories that connect us all.

My work is shaped by my experiences as an art teacher, mother, and lifelong observer of the natural world. Teaching has shown me how visual language sparks imagination and opens minds. As a mother, I see how art becomes part of the stories we live and tell. Nature, with all its textures, colors, and rhythms, grounds me and inspires the detailed, expressive imagery that fills my work.

Every animal or object begins as a hand-carved print, created through traditional printmaking techniques. The carving process slows me down, helping me connect with each form. I then bring the prints into the digital space, where I compose and refine them using my graphic design skills. This blend of handwork and digital design brings the work to life with energy and intention.

I invite you to look closely, to follow the shapes and lines, to spot a favorite animal or instrument or dessert nestled beside its letter. Whether it’s an aardvark curled around A or a jellyfish drifting beside J, I hope these pieces spark your imagination and offer a moment of delight. The alphabet here is more than letters. It’s a celebration of learning, wonder, and the joy of seeing the world through fresh eyes.
